Privacy & Cookie Policy
How we handle your information and the cookies we use — in plain language.
Last updated: 26 June 2026
Globic Press (“Globic Press,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), a subsidiary of EDAV, respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit globic.press or contact us, how we use it, the cookies we set, and the choices you have. We keep our data practices deliberately minimal.
Who we are
Globic Press is the data controller for the information described here. Our main office is in Arlington, Virginia, United States. For any privacy question or request, email us at books@globic.press.
Information we collect
We collect two kinds of information, and no more than we need:
- Information you give us. When you email us or submit a proposal through Publish Your Work, we receive your name, email address, and whatever you choose to include in your message or manuscript.
- Information collected automatically. If — and only if — you accept cookies, Google Analytics collects standard, aggregated usage data such as the pages you view, approximate location (derived from a truncated IP address), and general device and browser type. We do not use this to identify you personally.
Cookies and analytics
A cookie is a small file a website stores in your browser. We use cookies for one purpose only: to understand, in aggregate, how visitors use our site so we can improve it. We do not use cookies for advertising, and we do not sell your data.
We ask first
When you first arrive, a banner asks whether you accept analytics cookies. Google Analytics does not load and sets no cookies unless you choose “Accept.” If you decline or ignore the banner, no analytics cookies are placed and no analytics data is collected.
What we use
If you accept, we use Google Analytics 4, a service provided by Google. It sets cookies (typically named _ga and _ga_<id>) that help distinguish unique visits. We enable IP-address anonymization. Google processes this data on our behalf as a service provider; see Google’s Privacy Policy for details.
Spam protection
Our forms (such as Publish Your Work) use Google reCAPTCHA to prevent automated abuse. reCAPTCHA may set its own cookies and collect device and usage information for security purposes; this is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy. Because it protects the site from spam, it loads on pages that contain a form regardless of your analytics choice.
Changing your choice
You can change your mind at any time. Use the Cookie settings link (here or in the footer of any page) to reopen the banner. You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings; doing so will not affect your ability to use the site.
How we use information
We use the information you send us to respond to you, evaluate proposals, and manage our publishing relationship with authors. We use analytics data, where consented, only to measure and improve the website. We do not use your information for automated decision-making or profiling.
Legal bases (for visitors in the EU/UK)
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on your consent for analytics cookies, and on our legitimate interest in responding to you and running our business (or on steps taken at your request before entering a contract) for correspondence you initiate.
Sharing and international transfers
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us operate — currently our website host and, where you consent, Google Analytics. Because these providers and our office are based in the United States, your information may be processed there. We take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled securely.
Data retention
We keep correspondence and author submissions only as long as needed for the purpose you contacted us about, or as required by law. Analytics data is retained according to our Google Analytics configuration and then deleted or aggregated.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information, to object to or restrict its use, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these rights, email books@globic.press and we will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
Children’s privacy
Our site is intended for a professional and academic audience and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Significant changes will be reflected on this page.
